I love poetry, and when music and poetry really meet each other like they do in this song, I go fucking bananas.

I wanna talk about everything I love about it all at once, but that would be confusing so I’ll break it down as I see it, by the lyrics that impress me most.

This lyric sticks out first to me

It takes more than fucking someone to keep warm

Quick anecdote; I once said this to an ex of mine

You keep me warm in winter, I said

In retrospect it sounds totally stupid

You wont find love, wont find love in a home

How true, Frightened Rabbit,

Seriously how often have I tried to find love among others crazy like me. We may be sensitive in the same way but that does not make us compatible.

Sadly this lyric hits me hard as well…

I’m drunk, I’m drunk

And your probably on pills

Well said, Frightened Rabbit,

I was on pills, and yeah, you were so drunk! You asshole. We made a big deal out of nothing, didn’t we? And refused to admit it was because we were high. We were such kids.

So lately I’ve been looking a little bit dead so what can u recommend for that

“You never seem to be waiting for me, but we kept meeting at every turn of the paths. Behind every bush, at the foot of each statue, near every pond. It is as if it had been only you and I in all that garden.”

Item of the Day: If I had a kitchen, id put this in it. Above the breakfast nook, you know, to invite a little latin flavor and zest into my mornings and all my meals.

Michael RiesmanThe End of Dracula (composed by Philip Glass)

This track comes from a re-recording of  Glass’s Dracula, which he composed as a soundtrack for the 1931 film. The music was originally written for string quartet, but for this recording, Michael Riesman arranged the entire score for solo piano.

The original version of this track, perfomed by Kronos Quartet, was previously posted here
